In the depths of the darkest, hardest, most broken moments of people’s lives, Denver Rescue Mission is there to shine a light. Every day, but especially at Easter, we are there to meet men, women and children in the midst of these difficult moments, and remind them that there is still hope, and there is hope in Jesus. He came to redeem each of one of us, and together with supporters like you, we can show love, dignity and grace to those in need.

A Heartfelt Thanks to Our Amazing Volunteers!

One Life, One Hope: Easter 2025 – Spreading Hope and Love This Easter in Denver

We want to give a huge shout-out to the incredible volunteers who poured their time and energy into this Easter. Whether you were serving a meal, offering a reassuring smile, or gently washing the feet of our guests, you were the hands and feet of Jesus this Easter for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Thank you for your partnership and commitment to helping change lives.

A Meal Is Just the Beginning

“This meal today is completely unexpected and wonderful. It really is amazing, I’m impressed. I’m really enjoying it.”
– Chuck, Lawrence Street Community Center Easter Banquet Guest

This Easter, your generosity allowed the Mission to provide 1,014 meals to people experiencing homelessness or navigating tough times at our Denver shelters. Every meal we serve is a moment of connection, and an opportunity to provide stability.

Inspired by Jesus’ own acts of service to those in need, we invited volunteers to join us in washing the feet of guests who wanted to participate. We were honored to bring back this simple act of humility and care for this year’s Easter celebration. We also had doctors on-site, providing foot exams and essential hygiene advice to our guests.

We are also so grateful to share that we served more than 1,200 Easter meals this week across all our facilities!

This Week at the Mission:

Across Denver Rescue Mission this week, your support created truly special moments as we focused on helping to end homelessness in the lives of each guest and program participants:

  • At the 48th Avenue Center, guests shared a special Easter meal on Thursday, April 17. Each guest also received a new backpack, underwear and a hygiene kit.
  • The Lawrence Street Community Center held its Easter banquet on April 18, and volunteers washed the feet of guests. Each guest also received a drawstring bag with a t-shirt and socks, as well as a new pair of shoes thanks to Runners Roost.
  • Over at The Crossing, we’ll be hosting our Easter banquet for program participants on Monday, April 21, along with our annual Easter Egg Hunt for the kids of families in our Bridge program and Emergency Family Shelter.
  • In Fort Collins, our dedicated team of staff and volunteers at Fort Collins Rescue Mission extended care through a festive Easter meal and foot washing on Tuesday, April 15.
  • And at Harvest Farm in Wellington, CO, men in our New Life Program also enjoyed a festive holiday meal and fellowship on Wednesday, April 16.

A meal and fellowship may not seem like much, but for our guests and program participants—many who may have spent a long time experiencing instability, poverty, fear, and not being able to meet even their most basic of needs—these small moments can provide that feeling of dignity and grace to start them on the path to a new life.

It’s Not Too Late. Give Hope Today!

Thank You for Partnering With Us

To everyone who donated this Easter, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Because of your support, we continue to provide not just meals and safe shelter, but also essential programs and ongoing support for individuals striving to rebuild their lives.

We see the impact of your belief in stories like Lloyd’s, featured in this month’s Changing Lives newsletter. Motivated by his daughter, Lloyd found his “why” and, with the support we offer thanks to you, is working hard to overcome addiction and reclaim his future. Thank you for being an essential part of his journey and countless others, as together we end homelessness one life at a time in Denver.
